At Immanuel, our liturgical guide is the estimable Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW), and the rhythms and patterns of our prayers and our praise of God have their roots in the time of the apostles and indeed before.
Immanuel might be thought to have a “high liturgy.” And we do in the sense that we are a weekly Communion church, we try to faithfully follow the liturgies of the Lutheran Book of Worship, and we have a fine organ, choirmaster, and choir members. But we suggest that many folks, regardless of their church backgrounds, will soon feel comfortable with the liturgy of Immanuel. Indeed, many of us have found that phrases and melodies from the liturgy come to sustain us in times of need.
